I have been using a few custom lasercut steel sheets in 1.2mm thickness on some of our X1C printers. We had some problems with one of our large PETG parts. They were adhering nicely but pulled the standard PEI textured up on the sides leading to reduced flatness and this part has to seal with a machined aluminium plate so flatness is key. Due to the decreased flex of the 1.2mm plate it stays flat and because the steel is thicker the magnets in the base pull it down much harder (I keep the beds in the printers! The prints come off easy when the bed cools down.) So it would be nice to have a custom option in the Print “Bed Types”. I currently use a custom “tag” to mark them which works but is not quite as elegant.

Coming soon to a SimplyPrint near you! We’ve been building towards this from day 1 of the bed type tag, having it ready in the schema and mostly in the code too - implementing now. I’d say it’s 95% done, as you can see in the pic, but it touches a lot of different surfaces in the platform so we gotta test this more thoroughly before we ship it. But could be just a couple of days!

That’s awesome! I’ll keep my eyes peeled for the change!

Done! Out within a couple of days :)

Live now. Sorry for the delay.
Cool! I’ll check it out as soon as I get to work!
