Hide features for upgraded plans#570

I saw a previously archived suggestion to hide features for upgraded plans. I understand the need to upsell free accounts as converting free accounts to paid accounts is critical to your organizations financial health. That said, for accounts that are paying for a subscription, I feel that the ability to hide features that I don’t want/need should be available. For example, featuers that are in the “Print Farm” plan, while I’m on the pro plan, should have the ability to be hidden.

Hi @Ricardo Ortega :) any particular features you feel are too “in your face” while on the Pro plan?

I agree that it’s a better “common ground” to hide some of the more enterprise stuff for those who are already supporting the platform and may just not need the features on the higher plan; after all, many of our Pro users wouldn’t want to upgrade to the Print Farm plan not just because of the pricing, but simply because they don’t need its offers.

On the other hand, this is pretty much our only way to showcase new features and additions, regardless of plan, which could be something users don’t want to miss, and naturally something we want to show everyone is now possible.

So, our approach so far has been to make it minimally invasive, no big banners, and generally if you just don’t click e.g. the “Users” tab a second time, you won’t see a big “You don’t have access to this feature” popup.

The same argument of “hiding things you don’t want” can be made in other cases though; even while on the top plan, you may not want to use the slicer and wanna hide it, or you may not want to use the 1-Click Print button. And while we have thought about adding a “Hide features” feature, we also don’t feel like the platform is really crowded enough to warrant this, and the amount of users where this is actually a priority of theirs over some of the other ~300 open suggestions, is small.

We’ll let this stay open and gather upvotes - especially as you’re nice about it, in contrast to the referenced last suggestion that took more of a “bash the greedy bastards” approach 😆 as with all other suggestions; if this is something a lot of people want, it’s something we’ll most likely do! But, just to level with ya’, what the platform needs right now is honestly more so experimenting with the opposite; to keep development going, we need more people to sign up for a paid subscription, and conversions are not that high at the moment. So, tempted to say “it’ll get worse before it gets better”, but we strive to keep a good middle ground, and suggestions like yours with honest feedback helps us do so!

Keep em’ coming!

Hi, thanks for the follow up. It always blows my mind that people want everything free and complain when a free product makes any attempt at upselling. I just don’t get it. Anyways…

To be honest, there isn’t any specific feature that is “in my face”. Honeslty, it’s more of a, hmm, what’s this button do, “click” oh yeah, that’s not a part of my plan/subscirption type of situation. A few days/weeks later, the process start over again 😆. This is probably more a function of my ADHD than anything 😆.

Overall, I think you guys have done a decent job not “pushing” those features in an annoying way, so I’m not too worried about it. Just something that was on my mind in the moment, because of course, I had just done it again for the umpteenth time.
