Thanks for your time.
In a printfarm, models require constant tweaking and upgrades over time, such as increasing the bed temperature by 5 degrees, adjusting infill density, or making slight changes to tolerances.
Currently, the only way to implement these tweaks is to delete the old file and upload a new file with exactly the same name. Downsides of this approach:
No version history: When different employees make changes, there’s no way to track who changed what or why
No way to leave notes on files: There’s currently no option to document the reasons or context for changes
Implementing version management would provide:
Version history: The ability to upload a new .3mf to an existing “file” would allow you to see what changed over time (e.g., “increased bed temp by 5 degrees”), who made the change, and why-crucial for collaboration and quality control
Easier file tweaks: No need to delete old files or rename new uploads, streamlining workflow and reducing errors
Improved prototyping: A more pleasant and efficient process for iterating on designs and settings
(this, in combination with suggestion #398, would elevate the file management system in SimplyPrint to a whole new level)
Thank you for your time!
