Option to disable bed clear pop up.#328

Option to disable bed clear? pop up, this comfirmation is not necessary in some setups, eg with less printers, one user, or when printers are easily visible for visual comfirmation.

I would also like this made into an optional feature. Would also be nice if there was the option to clear the bed in one click without the large popup asking about print quality.

Disable this ! 🥸 It’s really annoying when you’re doing a series of prints.

I would also like this feature because it would greatly simplify things and make it a lot more streamlined and quicker

Alright, we’ll do it! I’ve been trying to figure out how we get everyone to like this feature, and explain all the great things about it, but I admit that I can see why some of you don’t like it. I’ve argued that “It’s great! You click “Clear bed -> start next print from the queue”, and just yesterday, we added “Hold SHIFT to skip the confirmation” to various actions - including Clear Bed (if that had been out earlier, maybe this wouldn’t have as many upvotes?). Clear Bed lets you mark a print as good and as bad, and if it’s marked as bad though it was finished it will go back into the queue, which is one of the most important aspects of it. But, if you don’t use the queue, if you don’t want to track whether a print was good or not, and if you sit right beside your printer while starting the print and can see the bed is clear, I get why it’s a click you don’t want. If you had a button by the printer, or on the printer screen if we were that lucky, that cleared the bed - or if we detected it via the camera automatically, I imagine it would be a welcomed state, as long as it’s not something you have to keep “up to date” in the panel all the time; I get that having to keep a “digital twin” of the printer’s state up to date manually can be tiresome.

So, while we’ve tried to improve the popup, and maybe some that have upvoted this in the past have already learned to love it (we do like to try and nudge people into a better workflow - not just doing the same old; actually using our featureset), and SHIFT-click now skips the confirmation, making it a faster thing to do, + “Global / Location-Wide “Ready All” Button” #877 being implemented as well, allowing you to not just clear one printer or one group at a time, but the entire farm with one click - we’ll still add an option to disable the Clear Bed popup and state entirely, so once a print is finished a printer will be marked as “Ready” (with some exceptions, like not being available if the printer uses AutoPrint, as the “Something on bed” state is critical for this to work). We’ll add a heldpesk article with pros and cons, but in the end SimplyPrint is a platform that can adapt to your workflow - hopefully help improve it, but you’re the boss of your farm, and we don’t want to make a platform that slows you down.

This setting could be out as early as today.

Hi Albert, how are you? I hope you’re doing well. So I just read your comment and as someone that is completely blind, I’m so glad you guys are going to add this option because this feature to me at least just kind of clutters things up. it makes it one more step I have to do that I shouldn’t really have to do to start a print because I know to take the print off before I start the next one. But also the thing that I was thinking of while I was reading this is that this is why options are important. giving the option to turn things on and off means that it’s in the user of the product’s hands and not the developer’s hands. Which is how it should be for most things. because products are being developed, even though the developers may use them sometimes. products are mostly being developed for the user, not necessarily always the developer
