Not officially a planned feature, @Atamgp , so no news here.

While it’s something we want to support at some point, we do rather wanna spend our time making sure our internal filament system does the trick.

So, I’ll flip it and ask; what makes you want to use Spoolman while using SimplyPrint?

Hi Albert, multiple reasons:

1) support for integation with prometheus/grafana to analyse patterns
2) supprot for huge amount of filaments
3) not sure they support templates but what works for me is having to make 1 template of e.g. Sunlu PLA Pro Green 1kg, and ticka box to have 10 instances of it. Per instance I can say #1 is in printer X now at 100%, #2 in printer Y at 50%. Now I need to make instances from scratch I believe which is not workable. Imagine I have 50 diferetn filaments and 10 inventory of each.
4) also to make scaling workable we need some kind of grouping (besides instances of a template).

I have not much experience with spoolman but perhaps there may be points I am missing and other can fill in.

Gotcha. Thanks for confirming, @Atamgp !

I believe that with our upcoming material system update, coming out this Saturday, and our upcoming Filament Manager update due soon after that, will address all of your concerns except for Prometheus/Grafana support, but using our API you could get this still.

A separate “Prometheus/Grafana support” suggestion may be warranted; we use Grafana internally too, and wouldn’t mind looking into it!

Hi Albert, that would be great!
I am looking forward to the releases.

Spoolman makes trhe distinction between a filament (users can make these) and spools of filaments. Still I miss grouping there.

Like :

‘engineer filaments’
‘multi color’
‘flexible’
etc etc

instead of 1 bunch :)

Like this, @Atamgp ? (screenshots from the new system)
So it’s not just “PLA”, but ot’s “Bambu Lab PLA”, for example.

Beyond that, in the filament manager, we’re getting locations and groups, so you can say “Warehouse #1, shelf B”.

I suggest you check the suggestion box if your concrete suggestions are there yet, or otherwise post them! We’d love to make the filament manager better, so third-party software is not required :)

Look very good.

“we’re getting locations and groups” nice!
