Save clicks with by moving the "I understand" button.#253

With an autoprint printer, you have to click the “I understand” checkbox when clearing the bed. This is fine when autoprint is running. Howevever, when you have autoprint paused for the farm, you have this leads to lots of clicking of the “I understand” checkbox, which is annoying. It would be better to place a modeal on the button that pauses autoprint for the entire farm, that requires the user to check the “I understand” checkbox once, when pausing the farm, then to remove the “I understand” checkbox from the clear bed modal. This would be a more efficient way to handle this. If not, every print on every printer while the farm is paused will require an extra annoying click.

You’re right, it makes absolutely no sense for that checkbox to show when AutoPrint is paused.

This is now what will show; a grey info-box instead of a yellow one, and no checkbox (2 first pictures), whereas the old design remains the same.

Hope this makes your workflow more efficient! Thanks for the suggestion, @Ugly Dog Woodshop!

Note the app will still show the checkbox for a while,, but we’ll mirror the updated design for the next update.

I think it’s still very important to include the checkbox when clicking the button to disable AutoPrint as there may still be uncleared print on the bed, or perhaps an option to run the AutoPrint clearing script immediately after clicking that button.

I don’t know if I quite see the need for that, to be honest. The flow goes as follows right now;

  1. You click the “Pause” button
  2. Before anything happens, you’re presented with a popup explaining what it does, and requiring you to click “Yes, pause AutoPrint”
  3. Then AutoPrint is paused

This action by itself doesn’t mess with print bed clearing, only subsequent actions of manually clearing the bed, where we still have the warning, will result in your AutoPrint flow being disrupted. I imagine most users have tried to click “Print removed” without having AutoPrint paused for their entire farm, before having it paused and trying to manually clear.

In my opinion, we’re pretty well-covered in the “warnings department” here, but let me know if you feel I’m missing something. In any case, I imagine your main issue, which this suggestion was about; the “Extra click”, has been resolved, and that your suggestion to add a checkbox elsewhere is not so much for you as for other people that you feel may need this - is that correctly understood?

I believe that message should be modified to tell the user that the auto-clearing function is paused, so they need to manually clear the bed. With that change, I believe the current workflow is sufficient.

If so, I think it should be a new suggestion. I’d argue the core issue of this suggestion has been addressed.

If the communication proves to cause confusion for new users, we’ll tackle that issue when it presents itself :)
