Other 3rd party apps can detect support materials. e.g. ‘Support for PLA’
If you go to your filament settings (https://simplyprint.io/panel/settings/filament) and add a material that matches the same of an AMS material, such as “Support material” (exact name match), it’ll be auto-applied. Is that the sort of thing you’re after?
Not really. I have detection from the AMS currently, using ‘PLA-S’ as the tray name for support for PLA. However the support material is detected as PLA during auto tagging as the material type from bambu slicer is ‘PLA’. This causes an issue with auto tagging. Potentially adding the ability to detect fillament type from ‘; filament_settings_id =’ and the ability to add aliases for fillament names would solve this? Happy to explain in a call if easier.
Hmh, that does make it difficult, if the slicer tells us it’s “PLA”. If you know how we can get the “real” value, do tell and make a case. Best do it here, publicly, so others can join the discussion! :)
Slicer Wise, having the ability to deterrmine the type from another source such as ‘; filament_settings_id =’ would return the fillament name, rather than type in the slicer e.g. ‘Bambu Support For PLA @BBL X1C’.
‘ “tray_sub_brands” ‘ from the AMS allows for more discreet type selection, for pla support this would return ‘ “Support W” ‘
The ability to then use aliases for fillament mapping would allow for support for pla to be known as both ‘Support for PLA’ and ‘Support W’
This more advanced mapping would then allow for distinguishing between PLA Basic Black and PLA Matte Black.
