Integrate a 3d benchy in the section “Your files” for testing but is not included in the limited storage that the user has
Hi Tristan :)
This is a semi-planned feature - we do want to provide some sample 3D models that are always in the file system, which doesn’t count towards your personal used storage.
Whether or not we can have Benchy in particular, I don’t know (due to copyright, the lack of exposure to ads and donation information on the download page hurting the original creator whom the model belongs to).
The thought was to include;
It’s not coming right now, but it’s good to start generating some ideas for it!
Thanks for bringing it up 🙌
Using the 3DBenchy model shouldn’t be an issue - https://www.3dbenchy.com/license/
“Feel free to … redistribute the unmodified #3DBenchy STL file as you please. Such as hosting your own downloads, attaching to emails, including the file on DVDs, USB-sticks, and in software distributions, bundling the STL or pre-sliced print file with 3D printer kits, etc.”
As long as you
“Simply include the word #3DBenchy and the URL 3DBenchy.com”
As long as the sample files have brief descriptions that explain what they are, how to use them and where they come from I don’t see it being an issue using CC licensed models.
It’s not integrated in the new slicer! @Harry https://simplyprint.io/blog/cloud-slicer-orca-bambu-prusa-online-slicer/ - let me know if that helps
Coming out in an update within 1-3 days :) More files to come, but for now we have;
We’ll be adding cool functional prints that we’ve designed at SimplyPrint, like our Raspberry Pi snap cases, a headphone stand, phone stand and more too: should give new users something to print right away, and old users easy access to test prints.
Next up: Thingiverse integration 👀
